Ep.60 'Working with West End Pro Dancers' with special guest Liz Bayley

In Ep.60 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, due to popular demand we welcome back Physiotherapist & former pro dancer Liz Bailey. Liz was our special guest back in January in Ep.33, talking about 'Virtual Consultation for Dancers' when we were all knee deep in lockdown. With lockdown now hopefully a thing in the past, Liz is currently resident physiotherapist on The Lion King with West End Osteopathy.

Liz is no stranger to the West End, having worked on shows such as Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, Singing in the Rain, Shrek, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, Matilda and Jersey Boys. A professional dancer herself for 15 years, Liz has performed all over the world and has a wonderful understanding of being both the patient and the therapist, giving her unique insights into injury rehabilitation.

In this episode, host Matt Phillips of Runchatlive talks to Liz about her work with Pro Dancers, the highs, the lows, the challenges and expectations. During the hour conversation Liz discusses the most common type of dance related injuries that Liz sees, screening for injury (better known as profiling), and the types of progression that Liz and her colleagues are championing in order to help reduce the high incidence of injury seen within in the Performing Arts industry.

A fantastic episode of huge value to both therapists and dancers. We thank Liz once again for giving up his time to speak to us.
