STA92 CPD Focus: 'Reconciling Biomechanics With Pain Science' with special guest Greg Lehman

The third episode in this month's focus on CPD brings you a special guest whose course 'Reconciling Biomechanics With Pain Science' has been taught in more than 30 countries across 5 continents - the one & only Gregory Lehman.

'Reconciling Biomechanics With Pain Science' is a practical course designed to provide therapists with a simplified yet strongly evidenced based biomechanical approach to injury & pain management that allows the development of skills that address all areas of the biopsychosocial contributors to the pain experience.

It teaches an alternative to the kinesiopathological model of pain & injury but still tries to answer when biomechanics matters. 'Reconciling Biomechanics With Pain Science' is coming to Cork, Ireland on Apr 2nd & 3rd 2022 at Pilates Physio Cork. * * * WARNING: This episode has swearing. Please do not listen if you or those around you are easily offended.

Questions & topics discussed include:

  • How much has your course changed since it first came to the UK in 2015 (hosted by host Matt Phillips in his former clinic)?
  • What would you say to a recently qualified soft tissue therapist who has heard that some of the concepts taught during their professional studies is questionable and needs updating?
  • "Poke the Bear, don't hump the s*%t out of it" - This image & message has resonated more than any other amongst health care professionals. What is it saying and why is it so popular?
  • In the 90’s you were learning to be a Chiropractic in Toronto Canada and hearing at that particular school about bio-psycho-social approach. Why has it not become mainstream
  • What's your opinion of manual therapy?
  • Some therapists are reluctant to change because they fear they are going to have to re-learn everything. But that’s not the case, right?
  • You describe manual therapy as a symptom modifier – can you expand on that?
  • Should being able to understand & recognize bias be a fundamental skill for health care providers?
  • Do course attendees need a particular background or knowledge?
